BBG Week 8 Check-In

Hello friends & HAPPY FRIDAY!  For some reason this week has felt extra long to me (probably because I haven’t been getting enough sleep, ha!) so I am so happy the weekend is finally here.  I am also so excited to share that I have officially completed 8 weeks of the BBG workout program!  I shared a little bit about why I started to do BBG back in this post, and my 4-week check-in post here (I also explain more about what exactly #BBG is in those posts!).

Am I Still Liking #BBG?

YES!  As I mentioned back in my 4-week check-in, my favorite thing about this workout program is that it is actually doable.  Each workout only takes 30 minutes, I can do the workouts from home, and I can fit the workouts into my schedule rather than trying to make my schedule around when I need to workout.  For example, last weekend Drew & I went to Dallas, and I was able to do my workout in my parents backyard because all I really needed was my phone to do the workouts (there are several exercises that require weights or a workout bench, but usually leg day doesn’t require any equipment!).

Has It Gotten Harder?

Another big YES!  Around Week 5 the workouts definitely started getting more intense & difficult.  I have been sore from every leg day for the past 3 weeks.  What is crazy to me is that even though the workouts are getting harder, I can actually still do them!  That is so amazing to me because it means that I truly am getting stronger by doing this program.  I could barely do 2 burpees 8 weeks ago, and now I can do 15 broad jump burpees!  The moves themselves have also gotten more complicated – some of the moves have required two workout benches or a bosu ball… which I don’t have, so I’ve just modified the moves as needed.

Am I Seeing Results?

Okay so this one is kind of tricky for me to answer…. Am I seeing results?  Sadly, no.  Am I feeling results? Yes!  To be 100% honest and transparent here…. I do not think I have physically changed all that much just yet.  I actually weighed myself at the 6 week mark and I had gained a pound!  I am definitely getting stronger, though, so I am going to tell myself that it is muscle weight :).  And to be honest, I don’t really care all that much about the number on the scale.  To me, it is all about how I look and how I feel.  And while I don’t know if I physically look all that much different than I did 8 weeks ago, I can tell that I am starting to get more toned & my muscles are getting stronger.  Like I said – at first I was struggling with so many of the exercises, and now I can actually complete them!  Also around week 5 I started to really focus on my diet, so I know that by taking steps each and every day to make better eating decisions I will eventually start to see results.  I’m just taking it one day at a time.  And I keep reminding myself – it has taken my body years of a lifestyle that was most definitely not focused on health for my body to get to the shape it is in now, so I need to give it a little time and patience (aka more than just 8 weeks) to start seeing results as I try to undo all of that.  But I am most definitely going to continue the #BBG program until the end, and I am already planning on doing Round Two!
