New Year’s Resolutions 2018

Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a great weekend celebrating the start of 2018.  Drew & I had a low-key night – the weather was super cold so we ended up staying in, making chili, and watching Parks and Rec reruns.  It was perfect!  Drew actually fell asleep on the floor in front of the fire with the pups before the ball even dropped in NYC – and I fell asleep shortly after and barely made it to midnight!  Which was okay with me, I have gotten to the point where I hate staying up late – it messes up my whole sleep schedule since I wake up so early during the week for work.  Guess I’m getting older, lol!

With the start of a new year always comes the time to make some New Year’s Resolutions.  I know a lot of people that don’t make resolutions (like Drew!), but I love making goals for myself and setting a plan to help me achieve all of the things I want to throughout the year.  While I don’t always achieve all of my resolutions each year, I still always do my best and there is no time like the present to start fresh on those goals!  I’ve found that the goals that I stick to best are the ones that are a little more broad and not necessarily time bound.  It’s hard to make major lifestyle changes overnight, so I try to ease into them so that I can create habits I’ll stick to for a long time.  For example, I’ll make a resolution like “read one book per month” rather than something so specific like “work out every day” because I know that sometimes life happens and it’s important to give yourself grace and flexibility sometimes when setting your resolutions.  I also try to set goals around these main categories:  things that will help me grow mentally, things that will help me improve physically, and things that will help me grow, adventure, and be a happier and better person.  In addition to setting resolutions, I also really love the idea of coming up with a word, phrase, or mantra to represent what you want your year to embody.  For me in 2018, my phrase is EXPERIENCES OVER THINGS, which I think my resolutions also help support!  Now without further ado, here is my list of resolutions for 2018:

  • Take tennis lessons this spring
  • Get a facial once every other month & transition my skincare into all natural & cruelty-free products
  • Run a 10K (I’ve already signed up for the Cap10K race in April!)
  • Complete the BBG program (I’ll be sharing my 4-week update later this week!)
  • Get more sleep!  Make going to bed early a priority.
  • Read one book per month (Pretty much my New Year’s Resolution every year)
  • Try one new recipe per month (I want to be a better cook!)
  • Stand at work for at least one hour every day (I have a veri-desk so no excuses!)

  • happy sunday 😍 somehow i got 10 hours of sleep last night 🙌 so i am up & at ‘em and ready to get allllll of the things done today! 👊 so far i’ve already completed #bbgweek6 💪, walked the pups 🐾, went to whole foods 🍊 & trader joe’s 🌹, wrote a blog post 🤓, and now i’m making a breakfast scramble 🍳 while drew watches the liverpool game ⚽️. and its only 10am! 🤣 hopefully the rest of my day will be equally as productive🤪
