Happy Monday – I hope everyone had a great weekend! Drew & I were actually super productive, which felt so nice after a long week last week. We deep cleaned our house on Saturday morning, then I took Miles for a run (we are halfway to our 6 mile goal!), and then on Saturday night we went to see Pitch Perfect 3, which was so good! It has been such a long time since I’ve been to the movies, I forgot how much fun it is. I also randomly started doing a puzzle this weekend – I used to always do puzzles with my grandmother when I was younger and it is one of my most favorite memories with her. I actually find doing puzzles to be very therapeutic in a way – give me some pajama pants & play some John Mayer, and I could puzzle all night long. Lol!
Anyway on to today’s look – cognac & black is actually one of my most favorite color combinations for this time of year. I always find myself wearing such dark colors in the winter (read: black), so I love the way the congac color breaks it up and it just looks so put together. I always used to think that wearing black & brown together is a “fashion faux pas”, but I’m here to tell you that isn’t the case at ALL! I actually think black and brown (any shade of brown – from tan to cognac to chocolate brown) looks really chic together. It all depends on how you style it! I like to bring in one piece that ties everything together – in this case it is my leopard clutch, but you could also add in a printed scarf or a fun handbag. The pattern/colors in the clutch add an element of visual interest to the look which makes the brown + black go together perfectly. And in the end, to me there really isn’t such thing as a “fashion rule” anymore (ie: “no white after Labor Day”, “always match your shoes to your handbag”, etc. Oh PUH-LEASE!). As long as you own your look & rock it, who cares about any “rules”?!
Thanks for stopping by!
