Happy Friday! Today’s post is super real-life for me, because I can’t think of a better set of photos that represents my life over the past couple of years. As most of you know, Drew and I have a long-distance relationship (we’ve been together about 6.5 years, and 4.5 of that has been long-distance!). Because of his brain surgery a few months ago, he hasn’t been able to come visit me on the weekends, so my pups and I have been making the 200 mile trek to Austin (almost) every weekend. Which I don’t mind doing at all (we love going to Austin!), but it does make me feel like I live out of a suitcase sometimes and it has also made me much more cognizant of how I pack for travel as well as what I wear as I’m making that 4 hour drive every Friday and Sunday.
While I can’t give you any tips on how to pack for travel/a road trip (literally my motto is: “when in doubt, over-pack!”), I can share a few tips on what I’ve found to be the best gear that I never travel without. I’ll keep this short and sweet: 1) This Longchamp Nylon Tote (I cannot travel without this bag! It is super light & durable, can easily be swung over the shoulder, and can even fold up if you need!; 2) Luggage with 4 Spinner Wheels (makes all of the difference! My bag here is the 24″ which technically does fit in an overhead compartment of an airplane, but it is a tight squeeze so I wouldn’t really recommend it. It is perfect for weekend road trips, though); 3) This Toiletry Organizer (you can hang it up & it holds SO much!); and 4) This Travel Jewelry Organizer (see more here!).
Now on to the outfit – I always see other bloggers posting their airport #ootds and travel style over on Instagram, and while I’d like to say that I looked as chic as them when I travel – that is just not real life for me! When Drew & I are flying somewhere I will definitely put a little more thought into my outfit, but for my weekly road trips when it’s just me and my pups, jamming out to Taylor Swift for 4 hours on I-35 – I am all about being comfortable. For me, that always means tennis shoes, a tee-shirt, and probably some sort of hat. In the summer it means Nike shorts & in the winter it means leggings (or sweatpants TBH). I recently picked up these jogger pants from the Nordstrom Sale and they are the softest things ever and can be worn either as capris (like I am here), or pulled down as full pants. I highly recommend them!
So there you have it – my no frills travel style & travel must-haves! Let me know what you cannot travel without in the comments! Thanks for stopping by!
