I had this post all queued up and ready, but then when it came for me to write the words about it, nothing came to mind. It seems so silly to me right now to be posting about outfits and dresses for fall when just 4 hours south of me, the people of Houston, Texas are dealing with some of the worst devastation our state has ever seen. I can’t even imagine what they are going through right now – the thought of seeing your city completely under water & losing everything is just unfathomable to me. My thoughts are with everyone affected by the storms (not just in Houston, but all along South Texas and Louisiana as well) today & this week as the rain fades away, over the next few weeks as the water starts to drain, and over the next several months and years as the city works to rebuild.
If there is any “silver lining” in all of this, it is that the state of Texas stands as one and we are all here to help out in any way we can. #TexasStrong. I am going to spend this evening pulling together clothes to donate, and I am also going to make a trip to Dollar Tree to gather some towels & toiletries to donate (I’ve read that the top items in need are flip-flops/shower shoes, baby items [diapers, wipes, formula, food], feminine hygiene products, non-perishable food, clothing and other toiletries). See HERE and HERE for a few lists of other ways you can help out even if you are nowhere near Texas (or just Google “How to help Hurricane Harvey”), and you can also donate to the Salvation Army by texting “STORM” to 51555, or donate to the Red Cross by texting “HARVEY” to 90999.
Thanks for stopping by,
