Happy Monday – I hope everyone had a great weekend! With the first day of fall being this week (although it was 99 degrees here this past weekend – ugh!), today I’m happy to be sharing the 5 pairs of boots that every girl must have in her wardrobe for fall. These are the boots that I wear the most throughout the autumn and I’ve found to be the most versatile. Many of these can even be worn though the winter (you may just need to add some thick boot socks or maybe a pair of Uggs into your shoe wardrobe for when it gets really cold!) and are classic silhouettes that can be worn year after year. I’m going on my 4th year with my riding boots! Now if only the weather would cooperate so I can wear all of these on a regular basis…
The Over-The-Knee Boot
I recently got this pair of over-the-knee boots and I already know that they are going to be a major player in my footwear rotation this fall! I love the OTK look – at first I was a little worried as to if they would fit around my legs or if they would be too tight, but after trying them on I was pleasantly surprised with how easy they were to get on & off. My favorite feature of this style of boot is the low heel – they are so comfortable & I can see myself running around in them all day long! My favorite way to wear this style is going to be with jeans and any type of sweater, poncho, or blouse. Or wear with tights & a skirt/dress for work!

The Ankle Boot
This is a must-have style for this transition time from summer to fall! (See how I’ve styled my ankle boots here, here, here, and here!). I love this style because it can literally be worn with anything from dresses to jeans. I also like purchasing my ankle boots with a small heel (about 2 inches) because then it gives me a little extra height without being too tall & that way I can wear them all day long. I have these ankle boots (less than $40!) in gray and brown as well as this pair in cognac – they are my favorites!

The Riding Boot
I got my first pair of riding boots 4 winters ago and they are still going strong! This is one style of boot that is definitely worth investing in – a great leather boot can last you for years upon years. I love riding boots because they are such a classic look – they look so cute when paired with dresses (like I did back in this post), but also look amazing with jeans (pair with a vest like I did here or a cozy cardigan like I did here!). I have riding boots in cognac, chocolate brown, and black and I find that I wear all of the colors about equally.

The Rain Boot
As the weather starts transitioning from summer to fall, we end up getting quite a bit of rain which is why having a great pair of rain boots is so essential. And, the rain boot isn’t just for rainy days anymore! When winter comes and the snow starts falling, you can layer a fleece liner in your boots to keep your feet warm & dry. I got my first pair of Hunters last year (see how I styled them here), and even thought they are definitely an investment & aren’t cheap, I have found that they are well worth it. They are of superb quality and have held up so much better than some of the less expensive versions I have tried before. I also love the bright pop of color that rain boots can bring, and I may not even wait for a rainy day to wear my red pair once we get closer to the holidays!

The Heeled Boot
Last but most certainly not least, a boot with a heel is a must-have! I love this look because it dresses up any outfit and is perfect for work or a date night. I recently got this pair (which is also over-the-knee and is only $49 and is a must-have!!!) and I have wanted to style them with everything! I love this style of boot with a chunky wooden heel, but you could also go for a stiletto style if that is more your taste. A boot with a heel also looks great with dresses, skirts, or jeans, so you really can’t go wrong with this style! Check out how I styled my pair with jeans in this post from last week.
