Shop The Look:
I hope everyone is having a great week so far – it has been hotter than hot here (at least 102 every day this week!) so as I’m looking back at these photos from our time in California, I am especially missing the mild temperatures and cool evenings. On our last day in Los Angeles, Drew and I hiked up to behind the Hollywood sign! This was one of those things that I hadn’t really planned on us doing, but once we were there it was sort of a “well of course we have to do it!” thing. The night before I googled “hiking to the Hollywood sign” and most of the results pointed to parking at the Griffith Observatory to start your hike and going from there. That is SO far, though (about 4 miles each way), and I knew we wouldn’t have enough time for that (plus we had just done a 12 mile hike in Big Sur a few days earlier, so our feet were already a little tired!).
I poked around online a little bit more and found this “easy” hike (right at 2 miles each way!) to the sign that gives step-by-step picture instructions on where to go. I am SO happy we did this hike instead of the super long one – it was the perfect length and got us up to right behind the famous sign with amazing views of the city (at least what we could see of it through the smog!). I will say, though – make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring some water with you. Even though this hike is only two miles each way, it is no joke! I consider myself to be in decent shape (plus I love hiking) but I had to stop several times on the way up to catch my breath. Regardless, if you are in LA and like active/nature/outdoorsy activities, hiking up to the sign is a must-do. Bookmark this hike guide – you won’t regret it!
For our hike, I wore a really fun sports bra that has the coolest back detailing which has been such a huge trend lately in athletic/altheisure wear. I paired it with this white tank which I love because of the deep racer-back cut – it not only shows of your strappy sports bra but it helps to keep you cool! This tank just went on sale for $20 and comes in tons of colors. I finished my look with some pink shorts, my go-to athletic watch, and my UT hat (hook ’em!) that I probably wear way more often than I should (ie: every weekend).
Thanks for stopping by! Have you ever hiked up to the Hollywood Sign before?
